Remote assistance through a router via windows live messenger

can i use windows live messenger to support my friends pc? both of our computer is behind a router, is it posible for this kind of data to passthrough a router?

  1. It should.  Make sure your router has UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) enabled, that way Windows Messenger and Remote Assistance can open the ports that it needs.

    Expand the last question - "Does Remote Assistance work behind NAT devices" - that's what you're asking about (Routers use NAT to share the internet connection)
