Remote control cars on the field in the olympics??

Question

when i was watching the 5000m final today, i saw red remote control trucks/cars on the field.

they're about 1ft by 2ft

does anybody know what they're used for??

i don't think they're camera's, i was thinking maybe to collect the shot put or hammer?

can somebody please help me. thanks

The remote control cars are used for returning equipment, for example: javelins.

They certainly have them at athletic events for returning discuses etc. but I don't know if that's what you saw.

i have seen them to and its so weird i think it something like cameras getting the good shots or maybe for following the runners with cameras because maybe they god kinda the same speed
