Remote desktop in Windows XP?

Whenever I try to use remote desktop, it always starts a whole new session on the remote computer. How can I make it so that I can take over the current session (i.e. the local user AND the remote user can control the desktop)?

  1. Remote desktop doesn't work that way.  You can use any of the VNC products to do what you want.

    TightVNC, UltraVNC, etc. etc. etc.

It involves putting a server on the remote computer and a client on the viewer.

Generally, you can have more than 1 client connecting at a time, where everyone (server and n clients) are all fighting over the mouse and keyboard!   You can control that.

VNC clients for PC's, Linux and Mac are compatible, making this a very strong universal solution.
