Go to your documents, then your pictures, delete the pictures and they will automatically be erased from the desktop background list

Try one/all of the below methods:

-Move that picture file into a different folder than the folder it's currently in.

-Change the file name of the picture. (May not work, though. =/)

-This method worked for me all of the time: delete the picture from your hard drive.
