Removed from LVMPD hiring process due to background investigation

Everything was going well with my hiring process for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. I completed my packet and went in for the Background Investigation. I told the complete truth on everything. Shoplifted once when I was 14. Never tried any drug ever. Father is a felon from 5 years before I was even born. Then I told them about my fiances felony from 6 years ago...4 years before I met him. Today I get a letter saying they've removed me from the hiring process. I'll get my letter in a few days...will they tell me why? I find this so ridiculous. I have a great background so could my fiances felony really have disqualified me? It makes me sick just thinking about it.

  1. After you get your official notice you have the right to call and ask them.   Usually they will be more than happy to let you know, so yuou can take care of the issue and reapply.

  2. You might have been disqualified for other reasons than those that you listed..

  3. Suppose this scenario.  They have a lot of candidates.  They want to narrow the field to ten, for example.  They have more than 10 who have never shoplifted or who have experience or better education, etc.  Perhaps it is nothing more than narrowing the field.
