  1. 4(2x-5)= 4*2x - 4* 5 = 8x -20

    and 5(x+6) = 5*x + 5*6 = 5x +30

    now adding both

    8x-20+5x+30 will give u

    13x + 10

  2. 4(2x-5)+5(x+6)

    use the distributive property

    8x-20+5x+30

    add like terms

    13x+15

  3. is this written correctly?  or is it supposed to be:

    4(2x-5) = 5 (x+6)?

    8x-40 = 5x+30

    3x = 70

    x = 70/3

    (roughly 23.3)

    if you are just trying to get rid of the brackets, then the above by Phoenix is correct

    =)
