Removing a Back boiler ?

We're moving in to a new home and it's got a back boiler built in behind the gas fire. we we're wondering how much roughly it would cost to remove the back boiler and maybe put a new boiler in the bathroom, or would it be easier to just to put a new boiler next to where the back boiler is?

Boiler in bathroom its against the regulations. Personally i would replace the back boiler and gas fire it will work out cheaper. If the unit you have there is in working order i would Get it serviced and use it. Why ! as it will be coverd on your household insurance if it leaks, as long as you have it serviced every 12 months.

What a load of c**p from the above answers.

If you have a back boiler, simply replace it with a new one. A Baxi Bermuda will do the job. My Dad got his done recently. He chaged the copper tank and the one in the loft for £2500.

I had a back boiler behind my gas fire and the ruddy thing burst.  I would have it removed or you could just have it emptied if it has water in it.  Mine rusted.  I should imagine the cost - well, depends on the size of the boiler, where it's situated and how difficult it is to get out.  Work on roughly £200 to £300 I should say.

All new gas boilers have an lpx rating which will guide you to where  you can install the appliance in a bathroom.Bathrooms have been sectioned into zones so certain appliances can be installed in certain zones.Unless you are planning to install the boiler directly over the bath or at arms reach from your bathing position then installing in the bathroom should be fine.

Back boilers are no longer manufactured as then do not meet the energy efficency regulations so you would need to fit a condensing boiler.

The cost will vary from anything like £1200-£2700 depending on what kind of new boiler you choose to the manufacturer,installer,location,material... and user controls fitted.

Do some research and get several quotes.
