Question:

Removing a Nikon lens.?

Someone has donated a very nice Nikomat camera fitted with a 28mm f3.5 Nikkor lens to a charity (thrift) shop that I help out at.

The camera looks to be in good condition except for a dead battery (which thankfully hadn't leaked).

I have tried to remove the lens to check for fungus but it doesn't want to come off. I am unable to set the aperture to 5.6 as the aperture ring will not turn very far. I can move it between f22 and f11 but then it stops (I have not tried to force it).

Is there an idiosyncrasy I'm not aware of or some sort of trick to restore movement of the aperture ring?

Is there any way to remove the lens without the aperture being set at 5.6?

Thanks for looking.

  1. There should be a button to the left of the lens ( right if the lens is pointing towards you. Push the button and turn the lens it should come off. These cameras usually had a pin on the camera that had to be lined up with a bracket on the lens for the aperature to work. They are solid old cameras
