Removing algae from bottom of the pond?

i noticed in my new pond a large amount of algae. I dont want to use any chemicals. Is there a better way to remove and maintain and cleaner pond?

  1. there is a plastic hoover you can buy which isn't expensive, which connects to any garden hose and you can suck up all the algae and other debris from the bottom into a small bag for easy disposal, i have had one for years and it works great


  2. Fish is great and install a self pumping cycle system which will keep the water flowing which will reduce the algae growth.

  3. Our pond does the same, but we have a filter that helps and we normally drain and scrub out once a year. Also we tried the sucker fish and they disappear we think snakes or raccoon, but koi do fine.

  4. Pond?  Why not get algae feeders....a type of fish.  They use them in aquariums.   There are larger ones whether they be suckers or something like that.   If it is a pool for swimming in, then the algae wand is a better device(or chemicals if it is too extremely far gone.)
