Question:

Removing dust from rugs with a carpet beater!?

Back in the day before hoovers rugs used to be "beated" outside with these wicker looking carpet beating things to get the dust out and give them a darn good clean. Does anyone know where sells them or if they are even still about?

  1. I have never seen a carpet beater at a store--unless it was an antique store.  I often use a sturdy handled broom to beat dust out of my rugs.

  2. They were basically tennis rackets. That is what I use when I hang mine outside over the low tree branches. You can also use a pole of some kind or a really nice sturdy stick. Works every time.
