  1. the easiest and safest way to remove a towel bar that is attached to a tiled shower wall is to take the end part of the handle of a hammer and gently but firmly tap downward on the post of the towel bar until it loosens itself from the wall.  repeat on the other side.  don't use the head of the hammer.  you'll just break the towel bar post this way.  keep hold of the post while tapping so when it does loosen from the wall, you have a good grip on it and it doesn't fall to the ground and shatter.  the towel bar might decide to break aanyway, no matter how careful you are, so be careful with the sharp pieces.  if you are going to replace the towel bar with another one of the same size, then the thinset used to set the bar must be chipped out completely for the new to adhere properly.  a small chisel or s***w driver would do the trick.  if you aren't going back up with the same type towel bar or none at all, then the tiles would have to be removed where the old bar was and replaced.  chisel and s***w driver would be used to remove the tile as well.  reset the tiles and grout.  good luck!

  2. carfuly chip away at it with a cold chisel. its imposible to remove it with out damage to it. just be careful not to hit the tile.!! when u get close to the tile switch to an old s***w driver you will have more control .  good luck
