Removing satellite cable?

Hi new house, and I have a Nynex (i think) box on the front wall, with a lead running uo above the front window, right across the house down the side and in to a socket in the lounge. I mdo not have satellite, and its an eyesore. Question is, can I just cut it or is it "live"

  1. If it says Nynex, it's actually connected to the Virgin Media cable system.  The box belongs to Virgin Media and you could ask them to come and take it away.  It's likely the cable is still connected to the switch box - that big humming green thing at the side of the road.  However, the voltages involved aren't harmful and you can safely disconnect it.


  2. There is no power in a cable or satellite box. You could remove the box and cables. I would recommend not cutting the cable where it enters the house. Just unscrew the connection and push the wire inside the wall just in case you later decide to have cable or satellite. Everything else can be safely removed.
