Removing tarnish from gold tone and silver tone jewelry

I've got some "gold tone and silver tone" (not real gold/silver plated) necklaces. How do I remove the tarnish? Any inexpensive at-home recipes to polish gold tone/silver tone jewelry and to remove tarnish?

  1. some costume, gold and silver tone jewelry will not shine up. But you can try a blitz or sunshine cloth, these are felt cloths with polish embedded in them. Also you can use a small amount of Simichrome past, or MAAS polish cream. I can find MAAS polish cream at Walmarts in the house cleaning products section. It is cheaper than Simichrome. There is also other brands like Wrights that works well. DO NOT use TARNIX or other dip type polishes, they will strip the metal. There is a product called NEVER DULL, it could be harsh too, I just have never used it on jewelry..

  2. try toothpaste or vinegar :-)
