Question:

Removing vomit stains on carpets

We have a boxer that has been constantly vomiting and over the past night he's vomited all over our carpets. So far I've just used soap and water and a pre-wash stain remover and it has only slightly worked. Are there any products you can recommend to remove this?

  1. Peroxide.  I have 2 kids, 2 dogs, and a cat.  This usually always works.  And no, it doesn't bleach the carpet.

  2. The very greatest product on the market is Spot Shot.  It comes in a squeeze spray bottle and looks just like Windex - same color too.  It works miracles.  Cleans up my cat's vomit stains on my WHITE rug.  Recently, it got rid of a cranberry juice stain on that same carpet.

  3. I have had the same problem with my dog vomiting up phlegm. I had a stain on my carpet that I tried everything on. Just tonight I tried shaving cream, it WORKED!!! Spread it around the stain, let sit for a bit, scrub with a brush, the blot with a damp paper towel, then blot dry.  Tomorrow I am going to try it on another type of stain. Hope it works.

  4. Yes ok first take your boxer to the vets because vomiting all the time isn't right for the dog

second get some good fabric stain remover you can find loads of these in a supermarket, it dosen't matter wich one any one will do

  5. Every comment so far is good and fine - except you are forgetting that not any has the vomit gotten into your fibers it has seeped through your padding as well.  The smell of vomit will be around for some time.

Also, if you have not gotten the vomit out well enough, you will soon have a "matting problem" and any future soiling will stand out more on areas where vomit was.

Suggestion:  Have your carpet professionally Steamed cleaned water extraction.

    Good Luck.

  6. Get a stanley knife and cut the stained bit of carpet out.
