The two most important players for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 are great friends off the field but it wasn’t always like this according to Loic Remy
After joining Olympique de Marseille in the summer of 2010, Loic Remy was never really a big fan of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Valbuena-c24690 and after almost two years at the club together, Loic Remy does not deny or hide the fact.
The striker has been one of the few players who have made Les Phoceens’ fans smile (22 goals in all competitions). Initially, Loic Remy was slow to make friends with Le http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petit-c29836 Velo.
Even statistics support this thing given that Valbuena provided Remy just two assists in the striker’s first year at Marseille. This season, Valbuena has provided six final passes for Remy’s goals which clearly show that there is something bigger than one
can see happening behind closed doors.
While talking to La Provence, the two men chose to speak a little bit about their past and of the relationship they have today.
Very bluntly, Remy said that him and Mathieu are very close and added that it wasn’t always like that as the two never spoke much to each other.
“With Mathieu, we are very connected. We go out, we eat together, see eachother on off days. This is the only guy in football with whom I have such a relationship. Initially, we never spoke. It was a clash. We had to go in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 team together, we slept
in the same room and began talking.”
Times have certainly changed and coach Didier Deschamps welcomes the closeness between two of his best performers from this campaign.
“There is complicity between the two. This relationship is still important here,” said Deschamps who has struggled to maintain a family-like atmosphere in the dressing room in recent months.
Certainly, Marseille’s other players should take a leaf out of Remy-Valbuena’s book as squad unity is really very important. In-house trouble has been blamed as the reason behind the club’s woeful form and maybe, the players might do well to act more like
a family rather than bickering at eachother.
