Renan Barao defeats Scott Jorgensen convincingly via decision – Boxing news
Renan Barao vs. Scott Jorgensen was the second main clash of the UFC 143 which was won by the former through a unanimous decision.
Renan Barao was given 30-27 by all three judges at the Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas.
Renan Barao was surprisingly quite impressive with his counter-fighting techniques and his swift footwork. The way he landed his attacks on Jorgensen simply put him in the winning position. Barao seemed like the superior force whereas Jorgensen spent most
of his time playing defensive.
Even though Jorgensen tried to make his comeback in the game, but Barao was working on a strategy that lasted until the fight ended, keeping Scott away from victory. Right in the first round Barao’s spinning reverse kick showed the audience the type of form
he was in. Then the crowd saw a chain of hard jabs and kicks from Barao, which not only made the match worthwhile but also got him the win.
On the other hand, Jorgensen who looked confusing throughout the fight landed a couple of straight punches which were successfully defended by his opponent. In other words, all efforts of Jorgensen were of no avail since Barao was on fire and was not giving
him even the slightest chance of making his way up.
Jorgensen was seen in frustration since he could not get his hands on Renan. All he was doing was swinging his arms without realizing that they are not even hitting the opponent, leave aside hurting him.
Seemed like Barao was well prepared for the bout and it was pretty apparent after seeing him fight. In the post-fight conference, Barao expressed, “I came in here to fight three rounds. He was a very tough opponent, but I was prepared for that.”
In the third round, Jorgensen tried his best and did land some punches on Renan but it was too late. By this time, Renan was already in command and Scott was going down. None of the fighters went for any submission and fought with their feet firm on the
mat.
It was quite a shock to see Scott Jorgensen going down in such a way, but then one should appreciate Renan’s efforts and his hardcore training that him capable enough to stand in front of such an opponent.
