The French midfielder is reportedly set to refuse moves to Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique de Marseille in favour to a move to Stade Geoffroy-Guichard
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Renaud-Cohade-c30845. The Frenchman had an excellent season for Ligue 1 side Valenciennes but is now a free agent.
For most of these clubs, Cohade was to be a great bargain. However, reports now claim that it is AS Saint-Etienne who have reportedly snapped up the free agent. Les Verts are set to offer the player a four-year contract at the Forezien club.
Pending a medical examination, Cohade is set to play for Christophe Galtier’s men next season. For ASSE, signing Cohade is a great signal of intention. Following the retirement of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Laurent-Batlles-c21731, there was an element missing in the overall play of Les Verts.
Moreover, Batlles who has now joined the recruitment cell of the nine-time Ligue 1 champions, personally recommended the club to sign Cohade as he sees the player an excellent replacement for him.
After playing for the likes of Nimes, Bordeaux, RC Strasbourg and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valenciennes-FC-c40865, a move to AS Saint-Etienne will be a good one for Cohade as he will discover a new environment with greater ambitions than those of Valenciennes.
However, for Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique de Marseille, Cohade’s decision to prefer the other Rhone side is a huge snub. Both Rhone clubs were keen on signing Cohade who was available for free. The duo’s financial conditions have forced them to go for
cheaper options in the transfer market.
However, it appears that Cohade was more interested with what Les Verts had to offer. Apparently, AS Saint-Etienne have proven to be more stable in the transfer market which is the reason why they were able to successfully convince the 27-year-old into joining
their club where he will have a lot of playing time.
After starting his career at Nimes, Cohade joined Bordeaux in 2004. However, after a relatively unsuccessful season, he was sold to RC Strasbourg where three good seasons earned him a move to Valenciennes in 2009 where he further established himself as a
good Ligue 1 player.
