Renault’s Robert Kubica in stable condition after third operation
Lotus Renault GP’s Robert Kubica is in stable condition after a third operation to treat the injuries that he suffered during his horrifying accident in a rally event.  Kubica’s right hand was severely injured and the doctors stated that the driver might
not be able to compete in Formula 1 ever again.
Kubica went through a major operation after the accident and it was revealed that he might recover fully and return to his team for the 2012 Formula 1 season. His condition did not stabilize after that operation and he had to go through another major operation
about a week ago.
The team announced that Kubica is recovering quickly after the second operation and he was in a more stable state after that. They also stated that he might even return before the 2011 Formula 1 season comes to an end. His girlfriend gave conflicting reports
that his condition was getting worse.
Nevertheless, Kubica went through a third eight hour operation on his right elbow this past Wednesday.
“The operation was a success and it will probably not be necessary for him to undergo further surgery. The elbow was rebuilt satisfactorily but it is harder to give a prognosis about the recovery of functionality,” a spokesman for the Santa Corona Hospital
near Genoa said.
It is expected that Robert is going to remain in the hospital for another two weeks before he starts his arduous and lengthy rehabilitation process.
It was believed that Kubica was going to be one of the top running drivers of the 2011 Formula 1 season and since Renault has a pretty good car this year, he was capable of winning races and maybe even challenging the top running drivers for the title as
well.
It seems that this is not possible anymore, but one has to admit that Kubica has what it takes to be a champion. He scored a handful of podiums last season, even though he did not have a very powerful car and challenged that top running drivers at some of
the venues as well. His fierce competitiveness has earned him a tremendous amount of respect amongst the other drivers and fans of Formula 1.
There were rumours that he was even offered a spot at Ferrari as a replacement for Felipe Massa for the 2011 Formula 1 season, but that did not happen unfortunately.
Fans from all over the world wish Kubica the best of luck for the future and hope that he recovers as soon as possible. It will be interesting to see how Kubica manages to rehabilitate himself and overcome his injuries. Only time will tell if Kubica decides
to return to Formula 1 in the near future.
