Renault are ready to provide engines to other teams – Formula 1 news
Renault CEO and Chairman, Carlos Ghosn has said that they are ready to provide their engines to other teams in Formula 1, but insisted that Red Bull Racing will always remain their first priority.
Ghosn said that they are looking forward to offer their engines to as many contenders as they can. Furthermore, he said that even though they are prepared to provide their products to more teams, but they will not reduce their attention on their current
customers in the sport.
“We will provide as many teams as is allowed by the rules - because there are some rules and we will follow the rules - but the technology is not limited to just some teams,” he is quoted as saying on ESPNF1. “We are ready to offer our technology
to more teams, but on the condition that we do not dilute the attention on the teams that are winning.”
It will be important to mention that Red Bull have successfully claimed their third consecutive drivers’ as well as the constructors’ championship title in this season with Renault-powered car. Therefore, Renault have assured that the Milton Keynes based
squad are their first priority and they will provide strong technical support to them in the future.
“For us preserving a very strong technical support for Red Bull is a priority,” he said.
Besides, it is to be noted that Renault also supply various products to Caterham, Williams and Lotus. Moreover, they are now targeting to provide their technology to more teams.
“At the same time we are ready to provide the technology for other teams,” he added.
Additionally, Ghosn said that they have always tried to provide the best technical support to the teams according to the changing requirements of the sport. He also said that they are preparing to develop 1.6-litre V6 turbos which will be used in 2014.
Even though, Renault faced huge criticism over the reliability issues which Red Bull’s driver, Sebastian Vettel faced in a couple of grands prix. Nevertheless, the veteran German driver came out successful in the end which has increased the goodwill of the
French manufacturer.
