Renault boss Boullier hopes Senna will put them back on the grid in 2011 Japanese GP – Formula 1
Renault boss Eric Boullier hopes their driver Bruno Senna will put his team back on the grid in the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix, which will take place on October 9, 2011 at the Suzuka circuit.
Boullier said that he observed Senna’s learning curve is good and he has gained with every race. He added that Senna impressed his team in the 2011 Italian Grand Prix by scoring some points for them, so he is hopeful of getting better results from him in
the next race weekend of the season.
The Brazilian took part in the 2011 Belgium Grand Prix for the first time in the season for Lotus-Renault in place of Nick Heidfeld. He participated in the Italian race weekend and impressed his team by taking a ninth position for them.
After that, the Enstone-based outfit was expecting better results from Senna in the recently held Singapore race weekend, but their rivals were faster as compared to him and he could not do his best.
Boullier commented, “I think Vitaly is doing well, but he is maybe more concerned by the fact that Bruno is fitting in very well with the team and basically taking some more attention, rather than the speed. On track there is plenty of room for them to match
each other.”
He went on to mention, “If you keep delaying and delaying and delaying then you put the interests of this team in danger. So I have to stick to one deadline. I have to stick around this date to at least understand if there is a chance for Robert to be back.”
The 27-year-old driver started his race from the 15th position at the Marina Bay Street Circuit and after putting all of his efforts, he ended up at the same place.
The teammate Vitaly Petrov was also unable to perform well on the grid in his R31 at Singapore. He came at the 17th position behind Team Lotus driver Heikki Kovalainen in the final race classifications.
After a disappointing Singapore race, Renault are hopeful of getting back on the grid in the Japanese race weekend.
Let’s see whether Senna puts his team back on the grid in Japan following his disappointing Singapore race.
