Renault boss Eric Boullier terms Canada massive asset for the sport – Formula 1 news
Renault team boss Eric Boullier has said that the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix will be the most earning event of Formula 1 in the 2011 season.
The Canadian GP is the only race in the 2011 calendar that will take place in the North America region in Montreal this weekend.
Boullier added that the Canadian fans are ‘amazing’ and he is sure the teams will get a great support from them during the race weekend. The country’s fans and viewers are very excited about the Canadian Grand Prix, which is scheduled to be held on June
12, 2011 in Montreal.
Apart from that, the team boss discussed that Renault are busy working hard on their R31 car and making it perfect for the Canadian race weekend.
He said that the team drivers, Nick Heidfeld and Vitaly Petrov need to have good pace during the qualifying round and must start the Sunday race in the front row. Boullier informed that the team driver Petrov has recovered from the injuries that he sustained
during the recently held Monaco Grand Prix.
Renault team boss went on to mention, “Canada is a special case because it's a low downforce track and a street circuit too. We expect Vitaly to perform stronger than last year because he has really stepped up to the plate so far this season.”
The team has a better understanding of the Montreal race circuit because they have already raced there in the 2010 season. Due to that, they are hoping for a better performance this time around.
Boullier continued, “I'm confident that we can put everything together to ensure we are quick at any given time. There's no magic wand though, so we'll need to put in the hours in the wind tunnel to get to where we need to.”
The seventh round of the ongoing 2011 Formula 1 season is going to start in a few days time. Let’s see how Renault perform in Canada.
