Renault confirm Bruno Senna will drive in FP1 in place of Nick Heidfeld in Hungary – Formula 1 news
Renault have confirmed that their test driver Bruno Senna will take part in the morning Friday Practice session in place of Nick Heidfeld at the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix on July 29, 2011.
Senna lost a chance of driving with Renault as the team selected Nick Heidfeld at the start of the year in place of injured driver Robert Kubica.
Recently, the Enstone-based outfit updated the media that Senna will drive Heidfeld’s R31 car in the first Friday Practice session at the Hungarian race circuit this weekend.
Talking to the media, Senna said, “I've done some productive work in the R31 already this year, so I know the car layout well and I'm confident it will be a smooth transition. I'm looking forward to working with the team during the session to ensure a good
car set-up for Nick when he resumes driving in FP2.”
The 27-year-old driver mentioned that he is very excited to be driving with Renault at the Hungarian racetrack. In addition, he stated that he is pleased with getting this chance from the team and that he is looking forward to do good job for them in the
afternoon Friday Practice session.
The Renault test driver went on to mention that he is hopeful he will do better for the team in Hungary.
On the other hand, the team boss Eric Boullier said that he believes that the 90-minute Friday Practice session 1 will be enough for them to assess Senna’s ability for driving in Formula 1.
Boullier mentioned, “We feel now is the right time to give Bruno a chance to drive for us during a free practice session. Although he's done some mileage with our R29 and R31 already this year, driving in a Friday session will provide him invaluable experience
with the R31 during a race weekend.”
Senna will drive during the Friday Practice session for the first time in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far in Hungary. Let’s see how he manages his run in the Lotus Renault car.
