Renault driver Bruno Senna: I am eager to get into the cockpit in Monza – Formula 1 news
Lotus-Renault GP driver Bruno Senna has said that he is confident for the upcoming Italian Grand Prix after his debut in the 2011 Formula 1 season in Spa.
Senna added that he has a good working relationship with Renault’s engineers and that he is aiming to take the best possible position in the Monza race, which is scheduled to be held on September 11, 2011 in Italy.
The Brazilian driver made his debut in the ongoing season at the 2011 Belgium Grand Prix. Renault selected him in place of Nick Heidfeld, who was driving for them from the start of the 2011 Formula 1 season in place of team’s injured driver Robert Kubica.
Due to Heidfeld’s disappointing performance since the last few races, the Enstone-based outfit decided to confirm Senna for the remainder of the ongoing season.
The team driver had a successful time on the grid throughout the Belgium race weekend. After a strong qualifying round at Spa-Francorchamps, Senna made a lot of struggle on the sets of medium and soft compounds by Pirelli.
Senna started his Spa race from the seventh place on the opening grid and after putting all of his efforts, he came at the 13th position for the team in the final race classifications.
The Renault driver added that their R31 car is a much better car. He stated that he is looking forward to perform strongly on the grid with his car in Italy this weekend.
Senna commented, “I have a strong working relationship with the engineers, and I am eager to get into the cockpit in Monza because I feel more confident heading into this race. As with any sport, miles on the clock and experience instill confidence in oneself.”
He went on to mention, “I know the car much better now. I'm more familiar with the tendencies the car has, and I understand the direction we can take it. I'm looking forward to working closely with the engineers to devise solutions on where we can strengthen
our approach.”
Let’s see how Senna manages his second race with Renault at the Monza racetrack this weekend following his successful debut race in Spa.
