Renault driver Bruno Senna aiming to put his team back in form at Suzuka circuit – Formula 1 news
Renault driver Bruno Senna is aiming to put his team back in form at the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix, taking place on October 9, 2011 at Suzuka circuit following his disappointing Singapore race weekend.
Senna talked to the media and mentioned that they need to stay ahead of Force India in the 2011 championship battle at the moment.
The Brazilian added that they will also try to beat Mercedes GP in the next race weekends, but currently their aim is to close the gap from the Force India team and hold on to fifth position in the title fight.
Senna commented, “The low-speed nature of Singapore made it the worst circuit for us in terms of performance. That hurt us a little bit, but with the updates that we have planned for Suzuka we should be strong there, and get both cars in the points again
- that's where we belong.”
He added, “Undoubtedly they [the other drivers] still have the upper hand because they have completed more races than me. I've driven at three very different circuits so far in very different conditions, and Suzuka will be another of the traditional races
where I have limited experience.”
The 27-year-old driver further said that he is still learning on the grid since his first race with Renault in the 2011 Belgium Grand Prix.
The team driver made his first race in the 2011 Formula 1 season successful for the Enstone-based outfit. He took part in the Belgium race in Nick Heidfeld’s R31 car and stayed at the racetrack until the end of the Grand Prix.
In the next Italian Grand Prix, Senna impressed the team Renault by scoring some points after struggling on the sets of medium and soft compounds by Pirelli.
In the recently held Singapore race weekend, the Renault driver failed to finish his race in the top ten positions, while his team was expecting better results from him for the Singapore race following his impressive Italian race weekend.
Senna ended his Singapore Grand Prix at the 15th position.
After a disappointing Singapore race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, Senna is looking good for his team at the Suzuka circuit.
Let’s see how Senna performs in the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix at the Suzuka circuit next weekend.
