Renault driver Bruno Senna looking to improve his performance at Korean Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Renault driver Bruno Senna is looking to improve upon his performance at the Korean Grand Prix scheduled to take place this weekend, October 16, 2011.
Senna endured a crash in the practice session for the Japanese Grand Prix, although he did well enough to recover and finished ninth. The race though had a poor result for him as the lack of downforce caused the car to move slowly at turns and resulted in
poor outcome for Senna and his team.
“It is a difficult track, and I think there are many places where you can make mistakes. There are off-camber corners scattered through the track and for a driver that's not really the most comfortable thing,” Senna said.
He added, “However, it's the same for everybody and I'm hoping that we can use Suzuka as a baseline for when we arrive in Korea then take the car out for the first time on Friday. From then we can just chip away at the time and get on target for qualifying
and the race.”
The Korea International Circuit is not known for high speeds. However, Senna feels that it will be a good track for him and the car. He feels that the smooth track and the tarmac they use will diminish their weaknesses that were so prominent in Singapore.
Looking at Senna’s overall performance of 2011, it has not been one where he would like it to be. He has not been able to score points frequently.
Senna finished ninth at the Italian Grand Prix, where he was able to score points, and then at the Singapore Grand Prix he struggled with the grip on the slow street circuit. He will be looking to improve upon these performances desperately. Suzuka was a
good start to his bid to improve, and he has been looking to set it as the baseline for Korea.
Senna believes that they will do well enough to remain in the top 10 from here on and give strong performances until the end of season.
