Renault driver Nick Heidfeld says he is confident about his seat with team – Formula 1 news
Lotus Renault driver Nick Heidfeld has stated that he is confident about his race seat with his current team in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Heidfeld added that he is happy with his current position in the ongoing season and that he tried his best to deliver his best performance for them on the grid in the ongoing season. However, he said that he is sure he will stay with the Enstone-based outfit
until the end of the 2011 championship.
Recently, the team boss Eric Boullier announced that the GP2 series driver Bruno Senna will drive Heidfeld’s R31 car during the morning Friday Free Practice session of the Hungarian Grand Prix. He also mentioned that Heidfeld has not yet provided them leadership
which they wanted from him in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Boullier said, “He has not provided the leadership we wanted. He hasn't taken hold of the team. We rely more on Vitaly for performance, with Nick more suitable for the development of the car.”
On the other hand, the Renault driver Heidfeld mentioned that he is not going to hand over his race seat to Senna.
Talking to reporters, the German stated, “Bruno gets the chance to drive here, and I think Eric said Grosjean is doing a good job in GP2, but that doesn't mean that he's going to take my seat. I don't think it has been a perfect season so far, but I think
it's been good and certainly good enough to fight for a seat next year.”
Apart from that, the 34-year-old driver added that he still wants to do well for his team and that he will try his best to put all of his efforts in the next race weekends of the season.
In the German Grand Prix, Heidfeld retired from the race due to a contact with Toro Rosso driver Sebastien Buemi.
His teammate Vitaly Petrov made a lot of struggle during the Nürburgring race weekend and finished his race at the 10th place for Renault.
After the German race weekend, Renault are ready to perform at the Hungaroring race circuit on July 31, 2011 in Budapest.
