Renault driver Robert Kubica discharged from Italian hospital – Formula 1 Update
Formula 1 Renault driver, Robert Kubica, has been discharged from an Italian hospital on April 24, 2011, as his condition has improved from the multiple injuries that he sustained in a rally accident, back in February.
The local news service informed, "Robert Kubica is no longer at Santa Corona Hospital in Pietra Ligure. His condition is good and the driver will be able to begin a new rehabilitation phase outside the hospital. He will carry on being monitored by the Santa
Corona doctors who had him in their care through scheduled appointments."
The Polish driver has been in the Santa Corona Hospital from 11 weeks. Due to his poor condition, Kubica stayed in the Italian hospital under doctors’ observation.
Before leaving the hospital, Kubica said, "As soon as I leave hospital, I'll head to my home in Monaco for a short period of rest. Then I'll move to Dr [Riccardo] Ceccarelli's facilities in Italy where I will start a deep rehabilitation programme and a preliminary
soft training programme. The two programmes will gradually cross over based on the speed of my recovery."
The 26-year-old driver also plans to attend the beatification ceremony of the late pope John Paul II, to be held in the early days of May.
In his absence, Renault drivers, which include Vitaly Petrov and Nick Heidfeld are showing good performances on the F1 grid. Heidfeld made a very impressive run in the season’s second race held in Malaysia, where he secured the third podium position to get
supportive points at the end of the race.
After his success in the Malaysia race, Heidfeld dedicated his third position finish to Renault’s injured driver, Kubica. The German racing driver added that it is his wish that Kubica re-joins the sport, as soon as possible.
In the Chinese Grand Prix, the Renault team did get off to a good start in the practice and qualifying round, but due to some technical issues with the new R31 car, both drivers failed to deliver their best run.
A few days ago, Kubica had responded to his fans with a huge amount of thanks because they supported the Polish driver a lot, since his horrific crash in Italy.
Kubica also praised the performance of all the Formula 1 drivers, who are running successfully on the grid. The driver added that he wanted to get back and compete on the F1 track.
All the Formula 1 drivers are now moving towards the venue for the season’s fourth race that will take place in Turkey, on May 8, 2011.
