Renault driver Robert Kubica’s return still unpredictable despite fast recovery – Formula 1 news
According to Lotus Renault GP’s Robert Kubica’s doctor Dr Riccardo Ceccarelli, Robert is currently recovering very well but predicting his return is not possible at the moment.
“This is obviously a question we cannot answer. No one can answer when and how, because we can only say that the surgeons did a great job and Robert is very strong and recovering in a good way. But there is a third factor which is the nature, how will the
nature be with him?” Riccardo told media in Barcelona.
Kubica went through a life threatening accident during a rally event more than a month ago and almost lost his right hand as a result. Thanks to his doctors and Santa Corona di Pietra Ligure hospital in Italy, it is expected that his hand would recover fully
until the end of this year.
The Polish had to go through three surgeries in the process mainly on his right arm and now he will have to go through a long period of rehabilitation with no further operations planned up until now but Ceccarelli believes that Robert will recover soon as
the doctors have done a very good job on him.
“We have two positive aspects: The job done by the doctors and Robert who is strong. That is the only thing we have at the moment. All the other things are impossible to say,” he added.
He stated that Kubica can move all ten fingers of his hands and the exercises he has to do currently according to his physiotherapy are quite simple on a chair or in bed in order to enable him to work using his body as much as possible.
Dr Riccardo added that Robert is getting better every day and he is recovering very quickly both physically and psychologically.
He was expected to be one of the top running drivers of the 2011 Formula 1 season but sadly, he will not be able to participate this year at all.
The Polish has been replaced by Nick Heidfeld for the 2011 Formula 1 season and it would be interesting to see how he performs this year keeping in mind the expectations of the team regarding Robert Kubica.
