Renault driver Vitaly Petrov hopeful upgrades will prove successful in German GP – Formula 1
Renault driver Vitaly Petrov has said that he is hopeful for the new upgrades that they will prove successful in the upcoming German Grand Prix, which will commence from Friday, July 22, 2011 in Nürburgring.
Petrov added that he is looking forward to making progress during the qualifying rounds in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
The Russian admitted that his R31 car’s pace was not good enough to compete with the top-runners at the Silverstone race circuit recently.
He had a poor British Grand Prix, as he could not finish his good run on the grid due to lack of his car’s pace. Petrov started his race from the 14th place on the grid and ended up in the 12th spot for Renault.
After the race, the team planned to make some developments in their new car for the next race weekend of the ongoing season. Petrov is sure that they will get a chance to do better in Germany with the new upgrades.
The 26-year-old driver talked about the new updates and said, “Since Silverstone, we have been putting in the work to ensure we give ourselves the best possible chance at the Nürburgring. The speed with which we introduce our new upgrades is the critical
factor in our success.”
He also discussed his 2010 season performance in German GP and said, “Last year the race took place at Hockenheim, but of course this year driving at the Nürburgring will be different. The weather can be quite changeable there, which will again have an impact
but the main thing we need is a strong set-up for the car.”
On the other hand, his teammate Nick Heidfeld is also confident for the German Grand Prix despite his disappointing results in Silverstone recently.
Heidfeld stated that he believes the new upgrades, which have been delivered in Renault’s new car, will give them an opportunity to perform strongly on the grid in Nürburgring.
Let’s see how both the drivers Heidfeld and Petrov manage their race over there with the new updates.
