Renault drivers Vitaly Petrov, Bruno Senna satisfied with R31’s showing at Suzuka – Formula 1 news
Renault drivers Vitaly Petrov and Bruno Senna are happy with their performance thus far in the practice runs for the Japanese Grand Prix.
They had a pretty disappointing run at Singapore, and were not happy how the car performed, but they were hopeful that Suzuka conditions suited their car better and it showed at the Friday practice.
The team press release said, “We are much happier than in Singapore; the R31 looks stronger here.”
“We spent the day working on the new tighter bodywork for my car, making a number of changes to try and find a suitable balance on the car,” Bruno Senna added.
“The main problem we have been struggling with is over steer, in particular some snap over steer at turn 1 which resulted in a quick spin, but I managed to return to the circuit with help from the excellent marshals here and no harm done and continued with
the programme. There's still a lot of work to do tomorrow, and that work starts now,” he added further.
Renault’s other driver Vitaly Petrov, was also upbeat about the prospects of the team and the car, and said that he felt the team was moving in a positive direction, and that he was confident of positive performances throughout the weekend.
He also mentioned that both the sessions proved to be good for the teams and they did not see any significant issues with the mechanics of the car.
However, he did feel that there was still room for some changes, as he felt that the power steering rack on the car on Saturday morning. It is just a minor issue and should not derail their performance in any way during the race on Sunday.
Let’s see how both of the Renault drivers fare in the qualifiers and raceday scheduled to be held on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
