Renault duo Heidfeld, Petrov disappointed with pace during Hungarian GP Qualifiers – Formula 1 news
Lotus Renault GP drivers Nick Heidfeld and Vitaly Petrov have expressed their disappointment with pace of their R31 car during the qualifying round of the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix.
Both of the drivers have said that they are hopeful their race pace will be stronger in the Hungaroring circuit on Sunday, July 31, 2011 in Budapest despite their disappointing qualifying round.
Talking to reporters, Heidfeld said, “Today was again not what we would have hoped for; P14 is not in our line of thinking when we step into the garage for qualifying. For this to happen, we will need a good start and the right strategy, so we'll be grafting
to make both those happen when we line up here tomorrow afternoon.”
The team driver secured a 14th place for the Sunday’s race after struggling a lot with his R31 car. After the qualifying round in Hungary, the 34-year-old driver mentioned that they can extract the maximum from their car at the moment if they
formulate the right strategy during their run.
He further stated that despite the disappointing qualifier results, the team must fight for their good position in the Hungarian Grand Prix.
On the other hand, his teammate Petrov said that it was a quite tough qualifying round at the Hungaroring racetrack on Saturday, July 30, 2011.
He talked with the media and said, “The difficulty we had been warming up the tyres because the weather was so changeable. I also encountered quite a lot of understeer, especially in turn nine, which cost me two-tenths and practically put an end to my chance
of getting in Q3.”
The Russian finished his qualifying run at the 12th place for Renault.
Apart from that, the 26-year-old driver appreciated the performance of Sauber, as they put a positive step forward at the Hungarian Grand Prix Qualifiers.
After the Qualifiers in Budapest, the Enstone-based outfit is looking forward to a successful race day in Hungary. Let’s see how both of the drivers manage their race at the Hungaroring race circuit.
