Renault hopeful for better results in rest of 2011 season with new upgrades – Formula 1 news
Lotus-Renault principal Eric Boullier has said that they are expecting better results in the rest of the 2011 Formula 1 season with some new upgrades.
Boullier told the media that they have planned to bring some changes in their R31 car for the last stages of the ongoing season. However, he stated that they are hopeful for their better results in the next race weekends, as they are sure the new updates
will support them during the races.
Apart from that, the team principal mentioned that they must focus on beating Mercedes GP team in the 2011 constructors’ championship, who are ahead of them by one position at the moment.
He commented, “We are now at a point where we switch a lot of our resources to next year's car, which of course adds new challenges. Crucially, we need to see what impact our upgrades have at the forthcoming races in Spa, Monza and Singapore.”
Boullier went on to say, “It is this, above all else, that will be the key indicator in how fruitful the remainder of our season is. We're back and we're looking forward to finding out. It's good to be refreshed, to recharge the batteries for what lies ahead
and to come back and finish the business.”
The Enstone-based outfit is sitting at the fifth place with 66 points at the moment in the championship battle. However, the Renault principal added that they are expecting both of their drivers to try to catch Mercedes in the rest of the ongoing season
and finish the 2011 F1 season at the fourth place as well.
The team drivers Vitaly Petrov and Nick Heidfeld are unable to perform well on the grid from the last few races of the season due to an unsupportive role of their R31 car. However, Renault decided to make some developments in their package for their positive
results in the last stages of the ongoing season.
Heidfeld and Petrov are at the eighth and ninth places respectively in the 2011 drivers’ championship after completing 11 rounds.
Let’s see how both of them manage their races with new upgrades in the last eight rounds of the 2011 F1 season.
