Renault president Bernard Rey says deal with Williams to give more exposure in Formula 1
Renault Formula 1 president Bernard Rey has stated that the new engine deal with the Williams team will give them more exposure in the Formula 1 sport.
Rey added that the new engine deal with the Williams team to be implemented from the 2012 season will give Renault an insight of their performance when eight Formula 1 cars will be using their engines on the track.
Rey added that Williams has taken some crucial steps in its management which clearly shows their interest in the Formula 1 sport and Renault will be more than happy to give them a boost.
Currently, Renault has three engine buyers, Lotus, Renault GP and Red Bull Racing. Out of these three teams, Red Bull are the most successful one, who have taken six wins out of the first eight races of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Rey added that for Williams, Renault will build a new team consisting of six members which will work on the engine acquainting to the Williams chassis.
“With a fourth team [and] one third of the grid, Renault has more opportunity to increase its brand visibility through credible results and marketing opportunities. Williams has recently taken several important steps, both commercially and technically, to
update its operations and we feel that this partnership is another important step in its rigorous plan,” stated Rey.
When asked how Renault looked into supplying engine to the fourth team, Rey stated, “By the results we have achieved this year we have already demonstrated that there has been no drop-off in performance or service in doing so.”
Furthermore, Rey stated that a new team will be formed to work for the Williams team which will keep all the data confidential from the other three teams.
Williams’ performance in the 2011 season has been a drastic one with only four points in the first eight races of the season. The nine-time former champions Williams have taken a huge step forward in Formula 1 in order to make themselves a top-level team.
Let’s see how successful that turns out to be.
