Renault test driver Bruno Senna eyes a race seat for the 2012 Formula 1 season – Formula 1 news
Renault Formula 1 test driver Bruno Senna has stated that he will be eyeing a race seat for the 2012 season.
Senna hoped that everything will be sorted out at the end of the 2011 season and for the next year, he will get a proper racing seat. Senna added that being a test driver of the Renault team is in itself a big pride and he is learning a lot from the team.
Senna, Hispania Racing Team driver for the 2010 Formula 1 season, stated that Renault have a bigger and better technical structure which gives him a lot to learn.
The Brazilian added that being a test driver, he has learnt a lot from his team and drivers and is very much looking to utilise his experience in a proper racing car.
“This is the first time that I am in a big Formula One team with the proper structure so all the technical depth is much bigger and deeper than what I had before. For sure the next time I'm in a race car I'll have a different point of view of how a race
team operates and I think from my perspective it helps me a little bit,” added Senna.
The Brazilian further added that, “I want to be racing for as long as I can be racing for. But in Formula One hopefully I'll be sorted out by the end of the year, that's the plan. And then we'll see; that's the hope.”
Senna was considered for driving the Renault F1 car when Robert Kubica was severely injured in a rally crash and was ruled out of the 2011 Formula 1 season. However, Nick Heidfeld was brought on board and Senna remained as the third driver of the Renault
team.
Nevertheless, Kubica has still not recovered from his injuries and there is every possible chance that Senna will get a drive for the Renault team in the 2011 season as well, replacing Heidfeld or Vitaly Petrov.
