Renault will supply engines for Team Lotus for 2011
Team Lotus returned to Formula 1 after almost 16 years. The team departed from the sport after performing for the last time in 1993. Lotus has been a part of Formula 1 since around 50 years and it seems that they returned once again this year to give a legendary
performance.
The team won 7 titles and was considered as one of the best teams in the sport before their departure. However, Lotus along with Hispania Racing Team and Virgin Racing Team joined the sport and none of them was able to give a promising performance. Lotus
was the best out of the three new teams but they were unable to secure a single point even though they had drivers like Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli.
However, Team Lotus has promised to perform at their best and they recently revealed that Renault will be their engine suppliers for 2011. The team is hoping for more improvements and hopefully a promising run for next season.
Lotus went through a lot of problem as their main partners Group Lotus decided to join Renault for the 2011 Formula 1 season and as a result, Renault changed its name to Lotus Renault GP.
The team had to face a lot of problems after losing their main partners and were forced to change their name. The team has not revealed its name officially yet but according to some rumours, they will keep their name as Team Lotus for 2011.
This is the first time in the history of the sport that there will be two Lotus cars running on the Formula 1 grid but it would be interesting to see what Team Lotus has in store for next year.
They have officially announced that they will keep both Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli for the 2011 Formula 1 season. The two drivers are confident about next season and vowed to give their best next season in order to ensure the best possible results
for their team.
