Renault’s Bruno Senna lauds his team for fixing his car in time ahead of qualifiers – Formula 1 news
Bruno Senna of Lotus Renault GP has lauded his team for their efforts in fixing his car after it got damaged in the final practice session of the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix on Saturday, October 8 at Suzuka.
Senna acknowledged the way Renault’s technical staff responded to the accident that took place ahead of the qualifiers and appreciated the speed with which the technicians repaired his car.
The 29-year-old driver had damaged the front rear wing of his car after colliding with the barriers and could barely manage to make it in the top ten at the end of FP3. His car was taken to the garage for repair when only 90 minutes were left to the start of Q1. The Brazilian however, with his team assistance was able to make it to the qualifiers just in time.
Although he could not get as much track time as he was hoping for, he still appeared satisfied and hopeful of a good show at the race. He seemed happy with the car’s results so far which were a positive sign for the team predicting a great race ahead.
His teammate Vitaly Petrov looks to be in good shape as well, much better than how he was at Singapore GP two weeks ago. The two drivers had only been able to qualify in the 15 and 18th positions.
Senna said, “We are looking much stronger here than in Singapore, and we're demonstrating the potential of the R31 at high speed corner tracks once again. The car has felt progressively better each time I've taken to the wheel this weekend.”
When asked about expressing his thoughts on the track and the overall experience of racing in Japan, Senna said, “As I've said several times this weekend, I love this track and I am very well supported here so I hope to be able to give the supporters in the stands something to shout about.”
Senna will be starting the race at Suzuka 9th on the grid with his teammate Petrov right behind him at 10th.
Let’s see how both the drivers perform at the race on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Suzuka.
