Renault’s Daniele Morelli says Robert Kubica improving significantly – Formula 1 news
Renault manager Daniele Morelli has said that the team driver Robert Kubica is improving day by day from his injuries that he sustained in a rally accident just before the start of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
He also mentioned that he is very hopeful about Kubica that he will recover soon from all his injuries, and most probably rejoins the team for the Friday practice sessions during this season.
Morelli said, “We should be finalising the rehabilitation plans in August and with the right training, the physical weaknesses will have been treated. For the future we are positive, the specialists believe that Robert will recover completely, and his enthusiasm
for racing is the same as before. He is closely following Formula 1 as well as rallies.”
He also said that it seems impossible that he could drive their R31 car during the race days of this season. However, he believes as he improves quickly he can rejoin the team as a race driver after the current season ends.
Meanwhile, the team’s manager discussed the drivers’ performance in the ongoing season. He added that Nick Heidfeld really disappointed the team by taking the eighth position in the recently held Monaco Grand Prix after kicking off to a positive season in
which he managed a podium finish in Kuala Lumpur.
At the start of the season, Renault were satisfied with him, as they believed that he was performing well in place of Kubica during the races.
Despite the German’s unproductive run in Monaco, the team believes that he can produce points in the next races. Renault are sure that they have a perfect car this year and that it will remain supportive for drivers until the end of the season.
The team driver Heidfeld said that he believes Renault have a lot of potential to fight with the strong 2011 Formula 1 teams. He went on to add, “And secondly if I look at our development plans and what will come in the next week sand months, there is a
lot of potential to move forward so I don't view this race as the best chance of the season.”
The 34-year-old driver discussed the updates for the next Canadian Grand Prix. He mentioned that they are focusing on bringing the new upgrades in the R31 car at the upcoming race weekend. In addition, they aim to get close to the McLaren and Red Bull Racing
team.
Despite an unimpressive run at the Monte Carlo street track, team Renault are still hoping for a stronger race from Heidfeld in upcoming race weekend, which will take place on June 12, 2011 in Montreal, Canada.
