Renault’s Nick Heidfeld eyeing more points in upcoming Canadian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Renault driver Nick Heidfeld has recently updated the media that he is looking forward to get more points in upcoming Canadian Grand Prix taking place on June 12, 2011 in Montreal.
Heidfeld did not put up a good show at the recently held Monaco Grand Prix, so he aims to bounce back on the grid in the next race weekend.
The Renault driver told the media that he has learnt very positive things about the R31 car in the Monte Carlo race that he will use in Montreal.
The German had a very strong start to the 2011 season. He impressed his team in the start of the season by finishing his run on the podium in the Malaysian Grand Prix. After that, he tried his best to retain his race position in the next races, but due to
an unsupportive role of his car, he could not do that.
Heidfeld believes that Renault can produce points in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season, as they still have much potential to fight the strong competitors.
He said that having a good pace during the qualifying round is much beneficial for the drivers that they can start the race from the front.
Heidfeld discussed the Montreal racetrack and added, “Well, Canada is not as unique as Monaco but it does still stand out in its own way. It has slow chicanes and fast straights, so it is going to be a different kind of drive than the last race. We tend
to have fast straight line speed which should help us.”
The 34-year-old driver went on to mention, “There are postcards and souvenirs everywhere, and the support really is fantastic. It’s not every day you come across an F1 venue where the whole city gets behind the race like Montreal does.”
He is very excited about the upcoming race weekend to be held in Canada as he has already raced over there in the past.
