Renault’s Nick Heidfeld wants injured Robert Kubica back on the grid - Formula 1 Update
Formula 1 Renault driver Nick Heidfeld has commented to the media that he wants injured Robert Kubica back on the Formula 1 grid as soon as possible.
Nick also mentioned that he wishes that Kubica recovers quickly and gets an opportunity to drive this year’s car in the last races of the 2011 season, as he is still a part of Lotus-Renault team.
Heidfeld said, "I printed your logo on the front of my helmet, and the Polish flag on the side. I wanted you to see that and to let you know that I'm thinking of you. I wanted to show your fans that you are a part of Formula 1 and of this team."
Nick had an impressive performance in the Malaysian Grand Prix and put the Renault on the third spot, behind the winners Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel and McLaren’s Jenson Button.
He dedicated his win to Kubica after his brilliant race and said, "This 3rd place is also yours! During the race I had often been thinking of you. Crossing the finish line, happiness totally flooded my head. I know what you are thinking right now.”
Some sources have said that the Lotus-Renault injured driver Robert Kubica is planning to attend the beatification of the late Pope John Paul II, in Rome on 1
May, 2011. Reportedly, three hundred thousand pilgrims are expected to come to Rome for the beatification ceremony.
The 26-year-old Kubica is quickly improving from his injuries that he sustained in a horrific rally accident, but he is still under the doctor’s observation in an Italian hospital for his recovery.
The Renault team has reported that Kubica is recovering well and it has surprised his doctors, because he was already able to put his weight on his poorly injured foot and easily clasping the fist on his right hand. They further added that he will leave
the hospital soon.
The Polish driver had undergone four surgeries, until now. However, the first three surgeries made more improvements in his bad condition, but the fourth surgery was conducted for his elbow’s positive recovery.
After the successful medical procedures, Kubica underwent the physiotherapy programme and he was able to move his right wrist and fingers.
Despite of Kubica’s current condition, Heidfeld is hopeful that Renault’s injured team-mate will re-join his team very soon, as he was the best driver of his squad. In the end, he wished that Robert makes good progress in his recovery.
After making good run in the Malaysian race, Vitaly Petrov and Heidfeld are excited for the season’s next challenging race, the Chinese Grand Prix on 17 April.
