Renault’s Vitaly Petrov looking forward to next two rounds in Germany and Hungary – Formula 1 news
Renault driver Vitaly Petrov has said that he is looking forward to the next two rounds of the 2011 Formula 1 season in Germany and Hungary after the disappointing British Grand Prix recently.
Petrov believes the new upgrades, which had been delivered in R31 car in the Silverstone race weekend, will give them positive results in the next two race weekends of the ongoing season.
The Russian had a poor time in the British Grand Prix, as he failed to show his best performance on the grid among the strong rivals. He started his race from the 14th place on the opening grid and finished in the 12th spot at the Silverstone
racetrack.
Despite his results in the British Grand Prix, Petrov is aiming to get maximum number of points from the next two races, which will be held in Nürburgring and Hungary respectively.
Talking to the reporters, Petrov said, “Since Silverstone, we have been putting in the work to ensure we give ourselves the best possible chance at the Nürburgring. The speed with which we introduce our new upgrades is the critical factor in our success
and I’m convinced that having these upgrades in place for Germany will give us more of a chance.”
The 26-year-old driver discussed with the media that at the moment they are focusing on how to get maximum from qualifying session 3 this weekend. He further mentioned that he is sure if they make progress during the Qualifiers, the team can produce decent
points on the race day.
Apart from that, Petrov talked about the Formula Sochi Festival, which will be held in Russia this weekend.
He went on to say, “I think it’s been very important to come to Sochi and demonstrate all the sport has to offer. Formula One is getting more popular in my country, and we have a Russian Grand Prix in a few years (2014) so now is a good time to say ‘look,
this is what F1 is all about!’”
After getting unsatisfactory results from both of their drivers Petrov and Nick Heidfeld in Silverstone, the Enstone-based outfit is expecting decent performance from them in the Nürburgring race weekend. The action from the legendary circuit begins Friday,
July 22, 2011.
