The Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper has opted to remain coy over his move to Hamburg until mid-April after reportedly undergoing a medical at the struggling club.
Former Leverkusen goalkeeper, Rene Adler, has confirmed that he will not reveal his future plans until mid-April. The shot stopper was talking in the wake of his side’s 1-1 draw against the Red Shorts on Sunday, April 8, at the
Imtech Arena.
Adler has failed to appear in any of the league fixtures so far this season due to injury. However, the goalkeeper has recovered from his long term knee problem and earned a place on the bench against his possible employers from
next season onwards.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 international has lost his place in the starting line-up to youngster, Bernd Leno, who came as an emergency replacement at the BayArena last year. Leno was initially set to leave in December last year but his impressive
display forced Werkself bosses to sign him permanently from Stuttgart.
While talking to supersport.com, the 27-year-old further added: "I will cross that bridge when I come to it. Both sides want the issue settled by mid April. It shouldn't drag on any longer.”
Adler admitted that the Imtech Arena outfit is interested in his services but refrained from commenting whether he would still join Hamburg if they get relegated this season. He mused that he would love to join a side where there
are sufficient first team opportunities for him. Adler also showed his eagerness in helping the youngsters out.
"I must have the feeling that I am needed from a sporting point of view. I want to help develop something new. I have a lot of experience to pass on although I am only 27. I enjoy leading off the pitch and to be there for young
players," the goalkeeper concluded.
The German has not featured for any other side so far in his career but will be available on a free transfer by the end of this campaign. After passing out from the club’s youth ranks and then the second string side, Adler appeared
for the seniors in 2006 and so far has 138 league appearances under his belt.
Leverkusen are currently eighth in the Bundesliga with 40 points and will next be seen in action against bottom placed FC Kaiserslautern on Wednesday, April 11, at the BayArena.
