The Montpellier coach has refused to blame his players for the slow start to the season and is optimistic that his side can defend their Ligue 1 crown this season

Despite their less than convincing start to the season, Rene Girard has not lost his cool. While talking to reporters after 1-0 defeat against Les Phoceens, the coach stated that there is no need to panic and his side will soon get back to the winning ways.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international admitted that La Paillade have failed to perform to their best so far in this season and has asked for rapid improvement from his players.
“There's no rush. Everyone should do a little more because we have to react.”
The coach added that his side was wasteful on certain occasions in the match against OM and they should avoid such silly mistakes if they want to achieve something this season.
“It is not that one thing does not work - just that we have made mistakes when we should not have.”
While the club owner, Louis Nicollin, has slammed the players for their lacklustre showing, Rene Girard has refused to do the same.
The coach is of the view that the players need more time to get settle, and it would be harsh to blame them entirely for the defeats.
“I cannot blame my players for not giving the maximum. At this moment it is not going in the right direction, but we will not give up and will keep working."
Montpellier Herault will next face FC Sochaux-Montbeliard on Saturday, and Rene Girard would want all three points from that game as it will define the rest of the season for the champions.
