Following their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Lorient this Sunday, Montpellier coach Rene Girard and striker Olivier Giroud gave reasons behind the defeat that could complicate things for them
“Montpellier have been too good,” L’Equipe aptly summed up La Paillade’s defeat at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Lorient-c39153 this Sunday. Though there are many reasons, the Herault side claims that playing on a synthetic surface also affected the team’s performance. However,
coach Rene Girard says that the busy schedule meant that fatigue caught up on players.
“Tonight it was almost the third game of the week, the most difficult to manage on a physiological level and we largely failed to control the game.”
Olivier Giroud scored Montpellier’s only goal of the game and feels that the team failed to do simple things against Lorient.
“When you compete in three games in a short time, try to play more simple and we failed to do so. It’s a shame,” says the French striker who has now scored 20 goals in the league.
Though these explanations are admissible it seems that the theory of hiccup could come into play in these final stages of the Championnat that has been very exciting to say the least.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Utaka-c18898 and his colleagues did create a lot of opportunities to turn things around but it was not going to be Montpellier’s night. However, Rene Girard and co should consider themselves lucky as Paris Saint-Germain managed just a draw away to Auxerre
which means that La Paillade still have a two-point lead over the Parisians.
If stats are put into consideration, one can say that Montpellier will come back stronger than ever next time they play. This season, Louis Nicollin’s side has never lost two games in a row so this particular stat might have a big impact over how things
shape up in the future.
Despite the setback at the Moustoir, Montpellier have their destiny in their own hands. Next up, Younes Belhanda and co will face Valenciennes who are keen on avoiding relegation which means that Girard’s side will have to work hard in order to get the required
result.
