By attacking French football, Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has drawn fire from some coaches of the Championnat who are certainly not big fans of the former AC Milan manager
If he has enjoyed great times since arriving at Paris Saint-Germain, sporting director, Leonardo, has also started making some enemies.
After the management scenario in which Antoine Kombouare was unceremoniously ousted and replaced by Carlo Ancelotti, the Brazilian has this time sparked controversy by criticising French football – an attack that has clearly not gone well with some coaches,
especially those who have been linked with Ligue 1 almost all their lives.
First, it was Olympique Lyonnais’ young coach, Remi Garde, who had a few things to say to Leonardo. Garde says that having money in football is important though it’s not everything. The French tactician says that he was not really shocked by what http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-c22056
had to say about Ligue 1.
“There are coaches who work well and are anything but toros and penalties. There are many coaches who do things behind closed doors but we don’t know anything,” says Remi Garde who is clearly not impressed by Leonardo’s feelings towards Ligue 1.
Montpellier coach, Rene Girard on the other hand, is angry at Leonardo’s criticism of a league that has definitely improved a lot.
“Let him go work with budgets of Lorient and Montpellier. What will he say then? It’s easy to get, to make cake when you only have to pull the lever. It’s a little easier. I was a professional, like him at about the same time. If he does not like French
football, others can wait,” said an unimpressed Girard who might have more to say to the Brazilian.
The Frenchman’s comments have certainly spiced things up in the run in to the title race between two clubs who seem to be on equal footing and might take the race for the Championelle to the final day of the campaign.
Leonardo’s criticism for French football is certainly uncalled for considering how much French football has improved in recent years. Unlike many leagues, French Ligue 1 has always given a lot of entertaining finales in recent seasons, something the likes
of Serie A and La Liga have failed to give.
