The French tactician believes that the Ligue 1 outfit exhibited lacklustre in their first-half performance against Stade de Reims, due to which they were unable to maintain a clean sheet

Rene Girard felt no hesitation in point out Montpellier Herault SC’s mistakes, despite the reigning champions securing an easy victory against fellow Ligue 1 side, Stade de Reims. The coach was disappointed at the first-half performance of La Paillade, which
he believes, was due to the lack of determination by the players.
The French outfit has been unable to perform well in the Ligue 1, as well as being knocked-out of the Coupe de http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 and the Coupe de la Ligue following the start of the New Year. The head coach feels utterly disappointed with the side as he wants them
to regain their previous winning form.
Girard believes that his players didn’t reflect the same passion during the first-half of the game as they did in the second. The former defensive midfielder was expecting a determined showing from La Paillade, for which he had to wait till the last 45 minutes
og the game. The 58-year-old exclaimed:
"We shouldn't have played like we did in the first half. We were not pro-active enough, and were not quite there in terms of aggression.”
The Frenchman added:
“We made a mistake and paid dearly for it. That's not what we'd planned, and we had to move up through the gears. We didn't react too badly.”
Apart from the team’s criticism, Girard feels satisfied with securing the three points at home. The Frenchman is hopeful that Montpellier would be able to replicate the same result when they’re playing away from home against AS Saint-Etienne on the coming
weekend. The coach wants the side to aim for the victory, but also warned them off the threat that Les Verts possess. He stated:
“We continued playing and scored three times. We'll now have to see if we can pick up something away from home. We only have the league to focus on. We're going to have a tough game at Saint-Etienne where we won't have a lot of pressure on us. We'll go there
to get a good result."
