The reigning French Champions once again failed to show their true colours on Saturday, losing 3-2 at home to Evian TG FC
La Paillade are off to a worst start possible in the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign and are currently 15th in the league with just 8 points on the table.
And there are no signs of things getting better for MHSC at the moment, as Rene Girard’s men were thrashed 3-2 at Stade de la Mosson on Saturday.
It was Montpellier’s fourth defeat of the campaign and coach, Rene Girard, is far from pleased with the result, and has expressed disappointment at his side’s lacklustre showing against Evian.
While talking to reporters, the 58-year-old stated that the situation is really annoying for everyone at the club and he has so far failed to find the remedy for Montpellier’s woeful form. The coach said that his side is lacking in confidence at the moment
and it’s really disturbing.
"We can only be disappointed and annoyed. When you don't do what you have to do, and things don't go for you, this is what happens.”
Girard added that Montpellier’s defence was far from best against Evian TG on Saturday and that cost them dearly. Conceding three goals at home is never a good sign, and MHSC were punished for that.
“All the same, it's a bit much to concede three at home; when you're not thorough, when you don't take things seriously, you pay a high price in sport.”
The coach said that players wanted to win the game but things didn’t go their way. It was a good performance from the visitors and they deserved to win.
Rene Girard added that players need to put this thought out of their head that they are the champions as the pressure is affecting them badly.
“The boys put in the effort, but didn't go about it in the right way. We led, but were then pegged back and overtaken and we simply lacked thoroughness. If certain players think they're world champions, they're kidding themselves."
Montpellier Herault face Stade Rennais in their next Ligue 1 game, and Rene Girard would be hoping to get maximum points from that game to get their campaign back on track.
