Rene Girard not happy with player treatment

The Montpellier Herault tactician is not at all appreciative of the treatment of his players during the week. A good win over Stade Rennais has allowed the tactician to be proud of his players
The old recipe certainly worked: Montpellier, alone and against the world, namely the journalists, observers and opponents. Throughout the week, Rene Girard, with gritted teeth, complained about the treatment that has been reserved for his team especially
after they drew 2-2 at home against Evian TG.
In that game, two La Paillade players got their marching orders. Among those players, was influential playmaker Younes Belhanda. Many thought that the Moroccan’s suspension for the last three games of the season have most certainly extinguished the team’s
chances of winning their first ever Ligue 1 crown.
However, Montpellier have replied in style and have yet again proved their title credentials. Against a strong Stade Rennais side, the team delivered quite a practical performance and won the game 2-0.
Understandably, the win has given Rene Girard a great chance to show the media that his side is equally capable of performing under pressure and giving the right results.
“With all the troubles which we have gone through this week, we brought the best answer on the ground. Many thought that they could push us over the cliff but it will take a little longer for that to happen. For us, it was best to do something good here.
There have been efforts and the quality of play when we were without Estrada and Belhanda.”
Girard then said that he is proud of his players and the way they have gone about their business despite a really bad week for the club.
Last night, there was no Belhanda and not for a moment it seemed that Montpellier were missing him as young Cabella took over with great effect. Stade Rennais never really got a stranglehold of the game and Montpellier were just too good for them on the
night.
With just two games left, Montpellier’s fate is in their own hands and if they manage to get a good result against Lille, they will get closer to becoming Ligue 1 champions.
