The 58-year-old is delighted with La Paillade’s performance against Bordeaux last night and is hoping that Wednesday’s win will kick-start Montpellier’s season
The reigning French champions are in all kinds of trouble when it comes to Ligue 1, but they somehow managed to produce their best game of the season at Stade de la Mosson in Coupe de la Ligue, winning 1-0 in the end.
It was an improved performance from the Ligue 1 outfit and coach, Rene Girard, is more than pleased with the way his side performed on the pitch. The Frenchman has expressed his delight at players’ attitude and has urged them to continue playing like that
in the upcoming matches if they want to achieve their targets this season.

“I am very proud of my boys today," Girard said.
Praising his players, the coach said that La Paillade showed what they are capable of and they deserved to win last night. Bordeaux are a tough team to play against and MHSC deserve credit for playing with great composure and commitment.
"They proved tonight that we have a good team, they were able to do something great against a Bordeaux team which is not easy to play, even though it was not the A-team.
Despite the victory, Girard knows that Montpellier need to improve a lot in every area if they want to get their Ligue 1 campaign back on track. The coach feels that the defending champions are very defensive in their approach and they need to play more
aggressively in the upcoming matches.
"We did what was necessary. It's a shame because we had to finish by defending a lot, but I also believe that these kind of moments are important, you have to go through it.
The 58-year-old is upbeat about his side’s chances this season and believes that if La Paillade continue playing like they did against Bordeaux, they will certainly achieve their objectives.
"Tonight, we found the energy to do it and I am delighted with it."
