The 58-year-old feels that La Paillade are getting back to their best and is pleased with the way his players fought against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Schalke-04-c39204 at Stade de la Mosson on Tuesday
Montpellier held the Bundesliga outfit at home in the Champions League but according to the club boss, MHSC could have won that game and they were unlucky to get only a point from Tuesday’s game.
Rene Girard was talking to reporters after the match and when asked about his side’s performance, the Frenchman had a lot of positives things to say.
The 58-year-old stated that Champions League was a new experience for La Paillade and their form this season is far from best. A number of injury problems played their part but Montpellier have no excuses regarding their European campaign.
“We have not been at our best in this campaign; we have had a fair few injury problems.”
Talking about MHSC’s 1-1 draw with Schalke on Tuesday, the boss said that the result is little disappointing but he is proud of his players. Girard said that the players showed a lot of determination on the pitch and they played with confidence which is
a great sign for the club.
“I am proud of the lads but I am disappointed with the result, but we just didn't get the breaks.”
Praising Emanuel Herrera in particular, the coach said that the forward has found his rhythm and he was really impressive against Schalke on Tuesday. His form has pleased the boss to great extent and Girard is expecting good things from Herrera in the upcoming
games.
“You can't improvise at this level, but (Emanuel) Herrera showed that he is finding his rhythm. He could have won the game all by himself, and that is encouraging for the remainder of the season.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international added that he wanted Montpellier Herault to win on Tuesday to leave the Champions League on a winning note. However, Montpellier performed really well and the boss is pleased with that.
“I would have preferred to have gone out of the Champions League with a victory, but I saw what I wanted to see from my team."
