The La Paillade coach has expressed his delight at MHSC’s win against Nancy on Saturday, and has urged the players to build on that performance
It was an impressive performance from the reigning champions as they thrashed FC Nancy Lorraine 2-0 at Stade http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcel-c23507 Picot. The win has taken some pressure off coach, Rene Girard, and Montpellier have now climbed to 12th in the league after the
end of Week 7.
Following a woeful start to the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign, things have started to look good for the defending French Champions. Goals from Younes Belhanda and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Souleymane-Camara-c33845 were enough to seal all three points for La Paillade, and Rene Girard is pleased
with the result.
While talking to reporters, the 58-year-old stated that it was a welcome win for everyone at the club, and players are feeling better now. The coach added that before this match, Montpellier were lacking confidence on the pitch, and it was good to see players
getting back to their best.
“Beforehand we have struggled to get into matches; it's a bit better now, we didn't concede and we scored twice. That will be good for the lads; it's like a breath of fresh air.”
Praising the goal-scorers, Girard said that MHSC are lucky to have players like Belhanda and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Camara-c8277 in their ranks, and they showed their class against Nancy at the weekend.
“Tonight we saw the talent of Belhanda and Camara and we didn't concede – that is the result of a collective effort.”
The coach said that players are suffering from fatigue at the moment, but they are excited to be playing in the Champions League on Wednesday, and coach is optimistic about Montpellier’s chances in their next European encounter.
“There will be no hangovers on Sunday but it is good, it's been a while since we have heard a cry of victory. We have a difficult game at Schalke next, we know it will be hard but it is another competition.”
Montpellier Herault will travel to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 on Wednesday, to take on FC Schalke in their next Champions League clash, and Rene Girard would not accept anything but a victory in that game.
